I never seem to see much discussion of China's presence in Sudan. I have been following oil field development in Sudan for years now, and the reports of wells drilled make it sound as if it could be a continuation of the types of oil fields found in Saudi Arabia. And the Chinese seem to be getting quietly in control there, much as U. S. oil companies moved into Saudi Arabia after World War II.

U. S. and Canadian companies have been driven out by agitprop groups accusing them of "supporting slavery" and collaborating with Islamic radicals.

"China's peaceful development serves not only the maximum interests of its people but also the common interests of people around the world."

ROTFLMAO

What he forgot to add was, "of course Chinese companies are at the front of the line when it comes to people around the world" and "this deal is being financed by the PBOC which runs a financial system in worse shape than the US" and "after we annex the acreage of Noranda's properties we will then staff Noranda with 100m peasants from the hinterland who will not comply to Canadian workplace standards and shall receive the average wage for the Province of their origin from China".

Yeah, he must have forgotten those bits.
