The reason Milton Friedman so clearly despises democracy, as seen in his quote you posted, is that he believes his judgment is far superior to that of the common man. This is the very heart of fascism. As you found his quote important enough to post, it's not hard to guess that you share his same conceit.

The simple fact is that democracy and capitalism rely upon the common man to make their own decisions individually and collectively. Your agony is that the decisions people make will often horrify and upset you - and no one will care.

I have a simple abiding faith in democracy and capitalism. While people may make decisions today they later regret, I believe they'll learn from their mistakes, laugh about it later, and move on.

Yes, Reagan's idea of funding the government with debt and monetary debasement rather than taxes was a foolish idea which is causing us an increasing amount of economic pain. But Americans will soon come to see this as the dead-end it always was and rebuild.

<<“I can hit you, but you are not allowed to hit me,” are, as will become clear in the course of this treatise, at the
very base of all practiced forms of socialism.>>

Sounds like the drug companies. "We can offshore to keep our costs down, but you the citizen are not allowed to buy your drugs from Canada.".

That's a double standard in favor of (heaven forbid) multinational corporations.
