Bush is almost like a Hitler - attacking countries without any provocation. Scary thing is, generations from now, people will ask us, "why on earth did people in the US support attacking a country that had nothing to do with 911?"

Hopefully generations from now people will wonder why powerful countries like the US allowed oppressive regimes like Saddam's to exist for 20 years before destroying them, in other words in the future Saddam's tyranny would have been nipped in the bud back in year one. In the future!

Amy,

I dont know about historians. My history book, while growing up were all black or white. There were only horrible guys and great guys (sorry, very few women mentioned, since most of the history books were about wars).

While there is no denying Hitler created atrocities beyond imagination, I never saw any mention in my history book, that the allied troops killed hundreds of thousands of German civilians as a planned strategy. Whenever there was coverage of the pain caused by the Atomic bombs, it was quickly justified as it saving more lives by bringing the war to end faster. We readily justify the pain caused by bombs and missiles under the name of "collateral damage" or "war", but are repulsed by deaths caused "terrorist" means.

It just seems hard for humans to denounce deaths and suffering that happens on both sides. We are very easy on the "winner" and indifferent to the pain of the "loser".

Hopefully, with the advent of the internet, historians may be forced to present a more balanced picture and bring forth the pain and suffering of the innocent people on both sides.

I agree with you, when the tapes are released several years from now, it will be interesting to know the real reason for the war. But by then, nobody will probably care.
