you may be right but fact is Clinton's administration wanted the same and started to move or hold troops in there including Northen Iraq - or, if you recall the Kobar Towers for example, or turning Yemen ports into a fueling stop for the US navy in the area,... which resulted in 17 US sailors dead ... or involvement in Somalia … not to mention other instances like Beirut barracks .... 230 Marines dead ... way before Clinton ... policy of securing energy resources has not changed for the last 20+ years.

As to what is right or wrong it depends on the country economic interest ... after all wars do not start out of charity or ideals it is all about economics and power to dictate resource alocation
