it's ok for moveon.org to run their Hitler ads against Bush...

or use brownshirt tactics against republican voters and offices...

ok, I'll take back what I said if you take back your idiotic comparison to Hitler. Trust me, the comparison is personally insulting to so many people who suffered from Hitler's hands and I know a number of those people.

You use to claim that YOU suffered at the hands of Hitler. What's changed?

Perhaps it would be less volitile if you stuck closer to complaining about things you find personally insulting for yourself and not try to speculate who else might be insulted. Almost every post that is not content free is likely to impact someone.

AK, I think politeness is unconditional of different political opinions.

I think you incorrectly assume that people will have exactly the same opinion as you and if they don't they must be bad. This is why I think you reacted.

Even people with the same experience will have different opinions.

RE: "I know a number of those people"

So do I. A relative by my sister's marriage was placed into a prison camp and survived it. The most important thing she got out of this horrible experience was, "there's no excuse" to kill.

From this experience, she has a very strong belief that there is never any excuse to kill people. People that have gone thru this horrible experience (or that have relatives who did), can feel very strongly about how attacking Iraq is wrong because it resonates too closely with how Hitler attacked other countries as a deflection of the real problem when Germany was undergoing severe economic hardship.

Attacking another country without any provocation is wrong.

But to get back to your point, different people will have different opinions even if they went through the same horrible experience. No two people will exactly think the same way.

Regards,
Amy J
