RMF, RE: "religion is probably the ONE thing that causes a LOT of these problems. "

That's why it should be separate from government.

Why is that so hard for some people to get?

We are getting further away from what the "Founding Fathers" of this country had said.

I think they should study fanaticism in the USA and write a report on it. This is the closest this country has come to it, other than maybe the 50s.

RE: Gays

CNN had a poll that said 40% of pollsters said they wouldn't want a gay president. I was shocked by the discrimination. Then again, we haven't had a black person or women run for president. This country is still so horribly biased. Too bad. Many other countries don't have the problem we have, when it comes to accepting women leaders at the very top. They are more advanced. I think it has to do with the fact that respect of a position trumps gender bias in those countries. The US is stuck in the middle.

Amy J

The comments by Pat Robertson showed that Bush had complete faith that God was directing him and working through him and that his ideas would be invincible. The trouble with people who have absolute certainty like that is that they fall apart completely when reality intrudes upon their fantasy. Think Jim Jones in Guyana, only with nukes.
