So what you are saying then is that terrorism equals balance of power politics by other means and thus is not as horrific as some of us think. Please tell me i am not understanding you correctly. Mike

Its not just a matter of different weapons and firepower. Al Qaida made themselves our enemy. We didn't go hunting for them until they came after us. Even after their earlier attacks our response was minimal. Finally after 9/11 we go after Al Qaeda hard but even then we didn't drop a nuke on Tora Bora or randomly kill anyone we could who was Arab or a follower of Islam or who we had a vague reason to think might be sympathetic to Al Qaeda. I'm not claiming sainthood for the US or for Bush and his administration or for "the neocons" but there is a big difference between them and Al-Qaida.
