===> "Tax cuts are fine in an environment where normal market forces can react to them. And, hey, I like a tax cut as much as the next guy. But after 9/11 I think it was obvious that we were going to have to increase defense and homeland security." <===

Our economy was going into recession. I feel that that tax cuts stimulated our economy by placing more money in OUR hands. We will have to live with deficit spending until our country is safe and Iraq is free and democratic.

If Kerry pulls us out of Iraq, and Iraq becomes a dangerous, Islamic haven for terrorists, you might be able to reduce spending and the deficit, but we will pay much more, but in blood.

===> "Let's just say, for argument's sake, that despite whoever is elected this year that rising oil prices and other issues slow the U.S. economy to a 2% or 1.5% annual growth rate. What do we do then?" <===

I can see oil going to $100 a barrel. Our security and strength and economy is based almost entirely on one source of energy, OIL! I think that it is insane that we haven't made alternative sources of renewable, cleaner fuel a national priority.

Fossil fuels are responsible for all kinds of illnesses and pollution. They are also responsible for the funding of Moslem terrorism against us. We are decades late in developing another source of energy.

Regarding what we do with slower growth? How about starting a new industry based on alternative, healthier, renewable fuels.
