You have attained wisdom, clearly. And yes, there will be no replication. The trust is gone. We were very trusting.

It is very hard to cope with the political situation without too much anxiety. Do you have any tips on doing that?

Not really, but the way I try to cope with it is to keep this quote in mind: "... The real question may be why anyone would be so hot on winning an election that gives them the keys to the burning kingdom that Bush leaves behind."

The Republicans will do all they can, however damaging to the country, to damage a Kerry presidency, as they did the Clinton presidency. Maybe they should live for four more years with the consequences of Bush's breathtakingly momentous incompetence.

To take comfort from that, you must not think the words "Supreme Court."

I did a search for "burning" to find the original post in which that line occurred:

Did I miss anything? What is the news around here?

You wouldn't believe how much you missed, and the nature of it -- but you shouldn't be at all sorry about that. Very soap-operatic, and bringing to mind The Psychpathology of Everyday Life. It's been interesting and enlightening, though, in a disappointing way.

Christine, Feelies seems like a century ago....

An example of change: I feel a little bit nervous about you using your real name.
