"There was strong opposition to the invasion of Iraq within military circles, and strong opposition to the idea of going in with a "light" force. There are complete fools -- Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld among them -- they should have heeded the advice of people who knew better."

At least meet me half way and admit that the light force plan could have been revised anytime after the war phase if this admin was adaptable which it is not. Military mistakes are always made and we couldnt know the post war phase would be such a mess. But once mess became obvious when the looting began, the admin should have siezed the moment and change course. I maintain much of what is happening now would not have happened in such a case. Thats the failure. When Plan A failed they employed Plan A again and again. The news reminds me of the movie Ground Hog Day. Again if Plan B were implemented the movie might have had a different ending. To make me happy just say this is possible. Then you have more credibility and we can go on and argue about going to war in the first place. mike

If what you say is true, maybe you can explain this to me then GST. Why in poll after poll do military members overwhelmingly say they are going to vote for Bush vs Kerry?
