The territories are going to end up as a bunch of little ganglord fiefdoms, none powerful enough to hold the whole bag. Somalia.

The thing that will hold them together is the Euro teat. They want the big bucks from them. So they will have to have an umbrella organization. It should cut down on the corruption, and the ordinary Pals may see some benefit.

With the coming "wall off" of Israel, they will have to face reality.

Palestine is a thugocracy.

I have been talking a lot to someone from Peru, who observes that many cultures seem to require strong men in charge to maintain order.

It's just hard for me to comprehend societies that don't self-heal, that don't have organized self-healing mechanisms built in. Why not?

Why is nobody picking up the trash and sweeping the streets? Why no hospitals?

I think the answer is that all the sane people went someplace else and left the crazies to fend for themselves.

No, that's not fair. It's something to do with no sense of civics, civic responsibility. They don't have a sense that they belong to a polis.

Civic, from Latin civicus, from civis, citizen.
Polis, Greek word for city-state.
