How do you know this?

<I don't see an assertion of their perspective as being a refutation of my point that "Al Qaida made themselves our enemy. We didn't go hunting for them until they came after us.">

What an extraordinary statement -- we have been playing a decisive role in the battles of the middle east for half a century, and during that time we have been very active in shaping the environment that gave rise to the terrorism we now face. We are on their turf and we are sucking up their resources and propping up governments based on who we like and toppling governments based on who we don't like -- is that something you did not consider?
