U&D, Coincidence has it that there were two Hannibal Lecter movies on the dutch tele and neither of them was Silence of the Lambs. Ofcourse it's "quid pro quo", but that can take many forms. That said I didn't mean to sound like I thought IBM as foundry for AMD was imminent or will happen at all, more like IF it happened I think it's not for Opteron cpu's, and IF it happens then I think the biggest chance is it will happen after trial runs showed reasonably binning Semprons.

Kind regards,

Rink

UpNDown,

I'll say it again. IBM gets no contract for fabbing from AMD until AMD starts to get sales through the IBM store. Quid pro quo. And I wouldn't have it any other way. IBM should be selling AMD desktops and AMD notebooks, and until they do, their fab at Fishkill can rot in h*ll.

I'll second that motion.

If you are an AMD investor, hopefully, you will soon be able to change your alias to UpNUp.

UpNDown,

I'll say it again. IBM gets no contract for fabbing from AMD until AMD starts to get sales through the IBM store.

Before it would make sense to fab outside, AMD needs to sell out Dresden facility, but we are not there yet.

The earliest possible date for start of this type of venture would be wafer starts starting in May 2005, wafer outs in August 2005, and even this assumes an optimistic scenario of AMD steadily gaining sales unit-wise, beyond the growth of capacity 90nm conversion will make possible.
