know this sounds crazy but has anyone considered the possibility that Bush is TRYING to lose? Sure, every sleazy Rove tactic backfires in their face but could it be intentional? These guys are so devious, they are capable of anything including throwing the election. Think about it. It’s “hard work” and Bush has shown a lifelong aversion to hard work or really any work at all for that matter. He has secured all the perquisites of an ex-President, the lush pension, the free office space, the secret service detail and all the other taxpayer-funded perks of a former president. He would be free to follow the true calling of a Republican ex-President. He could collect six-figure fees for reading lame speeches off the teleprompter to audiences of stupifyingly bored and hung-over conventioneers. Just like Daddy. Better than Daddy. Were you expecting him to build houses for poor people or monitor African elections? C’mon….he’s a Repugnacan. Bandar Bush would immediately give him one of those multi-million-dollar consulting gigs with the Saudis where his only duties would be accepting free first-class travel and cashing Saudi checks. His campaign debt to the rich backers that paid for the theft of the 2000 election and the losing effort in 2004? That debt can be stamped PAID IN FULL. Showering them with hundreds of billions in tax breaks has repaid that debt WITH INTEREST. The guy loves to vacation. Here is his big chance for a permanent vacation. With more time to play fake cowboy at the Prairie Chapel, he might even learn to ride a horse without falling off. Or a bike. Or a Segway. No CIA party-pooper will be coming around trying to ruin his vacation with “OBL determined to strike in U.S.A.” stuff. Kerry will be stuck with breaking the bad news to the baby-boomers about Social Security, Medicare and the really unpleasant solution for the deficit. He could collect millions from extremely grateful AND flush Texas oilmen to build some garish marble edifice deep in the heart of redneck America, The George Dubya Bush Library. Much bigger than Daddy’s. Laura could be head librarian. A tiny little shelf could contain every book he has ever read in his life. “My Pet Goat” will not be included since he didn’t actually finish it due to important President bidness. He could collect a seven-figure advance for hiring some right-wing hack to ghost-write “George W Bush, My Life and Times with a subtitle of “NOT MY FAULT”. The “most self-assured man in the world” as per Pat Robertson, may be finally beginning to realize that he is about eight levels above his level of incompetence. They will have to issue an updated edition of The Peter Principle just to explain Bush. You are supposed to rise JUST to your level of incompetence. It’s time to cash in. Why should he be working hard for another four years when he could be hardly working?
