a vote for shrub is a vote for bin laden.

They have an undeniable symbiotic relationship.

What I don't understand about some of the posters on this thread is that if elected Kerry gets to be more of a badass than Bush ever was. He gets a six month free pass to be as tough as anyone ever could be. It is a no lose process, as he can claim to be cleaning up Bush's mess...

Does anyone really think any American President is going to be "soft on terror" from now on? I don't think Howard Dean would have been "soft on terror". What I can't figure out is why conservatives think Bush is so darn effective. Show me where he has been effective in fighting terror. If he had focused on Afghanistan, fine. If he had turned to North Korea instead of Iraq...where there really is a danger of WMD development and sale, fine. If he had supported the creation of hte 9/11 commission and Homeland Security department so we could get to the bottom of the intelligence snafus and start the road back to building the structure we need...fine. But he didn't.

The great argument about we have only been hit once, 9/11, and so Bush gets credit for that ignores the fact that we were hit before in 1993...so I guess Clinton gets credit for the seven years after that with no domestic attacks? It is awfully hard to prove a negative...but when things go "right", it is Bush's credit. When things go wrong (and despite Bush's attitude on the subject, some things have gone wrong in the past couple of years), it is never, never his fault. Why?

Ground Zero, explain it to me, please. I haven't voted yet. I know you have and maybe you an convert me.

If he had stayed focused on Afghanistan and chased down Bin Laden regardless of upsetting Pakistan, fine. That is being tough.
