Yes, it's a Churchill quote. I figured you'd appreciate that better than a Gandhi or Lao Tsu quote (vbg).

Leaders must be judged by their actions, and by the consequences of those actions. Not their hopes and dreams, not their good or bad intentions, not their words. And the more power they hold, the harsher should be the scrutiny. Ignorance, unintended consequences, bad intel, etc., should not be an acceptable excuse. This goes for all leaders.

If you'll recall, right after 9/11, and continuing through the overthrow of the Taliban, I was a flag-waving jingoist, just like you, just like 99% of America. Remember what I was posting then?

But my thinking gradually did a 180 degree turn, over the next year (late 2001 through 2002). I began as a Bush supporter, a war supporter. I ended up joining the Quaker church, and going to every public war protest in my hometown. It was Bush's actions, and the results of those actions, that turned me into a pacifist.

The problem with Bush, is not that his methods are immoral. The problem is, they just don't work. They don't get the promised results.
