I don't see Arabs flocking to the modernizing states in their midst... there aren't any Jeffersonian democracies there, but there are better places to be than Saudi Arabia.

These people, whether we like it or not, have been brainwashed to enjoy living in s**t and to blame us for all of their problems. We do not approach the Middle East with that understanding.

One can see why the Arab peninsula would not want a successful economy in the area. The rest of the Arab world would look shameful and would have people sneaking over the border to work in a place where effort and reward are related.

I hesitate calling the Saudi economy successful but it is definitely prosperous. Now that Iraqis have passports I suspect at least some will go to work in SA.
