I also think it leaves the Primaries open to manipulation.

The other two I'm still tossing around are:

Prop 64, limits on lawsuits to enforce California law without a plaintiff. My sense is the number of these lawsuits is down dramatically as businesses move into compliance with various laws. The opposition claims to be worried about the burden on small business, which is a peculiar concern for the largest contributors PG&E and ExxonMobil.

Prop 66, limitations on Three Strikes
I see no reason to be locking up three-time petty offenders for life for reasons of equity and cost. But those who oppose this measure claim it will make a lot of changes I don't see in the law.

I voted for the open primary. I weighed all the issues like you did, but in the end, my feeling is that republicans in CA especially have been destroyed by the primary process with a bunch of far right nuts who can't win a general election and that isn't a good thing. We had a huge number of quality candidates on the recall ballot imho and I'd like to get more people like that running so open primary it is.

The wierdest proposition for me is the 3 strikes reform. I expected that to get OVERWHELMING support from just about everybody. Instead, both major parties are against it, I don't get it. I voted for it anyway but with so many against it, I doubt it passes.

I just voted, my voting place was PACKED. Huge turnout this time.
