OK, granted that saying US forces are not on his case 24-7 is an imprecise statement. That does not make it a lie. Your statement that the dems dismantled the ground intelligence operations is also imprecise and may be entirely inaccurate. That does not make you a liar either, unless of course you would prefer to be called one, in which case I can oblige.

The US has never had adequate intelligence on the ground in that area and it's an extremely difficult area to penetrate anyway. Bush himself was definitely not making it a priority until after 9/11 anyway, so in your eyes he could be equally culpable.

OBL was never in charge of all terrorists, correct. But he was in charge of AQ, which was the principle organization that concerned us after 9/11. Now he is not even operationally in charge of all of AQ. That may be due to the fact that he has been isolated by us. But it also attests to the adaptability of the network. And now there are new names, new places and a widening net of cells that probably didn't exist 3 years ago.

We may be well armed, organized and dedicated, and compared to the enemy, that was the case in Vietnam as well. The undeniable advantage the insurgents have is language and culture-and the intimidation factor. Even people who do not agree with their tactics are not risking death by aiding us.
