This was the 3rd year in a row Bush spoke at the S. Baptist's annual meeting and he's not even Baptist.

He says he's Methodist, but he won't meet with the leadership of the Methodist Church, despite their seeking such a meeting. But Methodist are rather moderate and at least from the leadership spoke out against the war in Iraq.

Ted, I appreciate the effort. I suspect the Southern Baptists wanted to give Bush some sort of honorary title, but Bush declined for various reasons, including personal and political.

Well, that's my WAG anyway. I attend a non-denominational church, and I don't really keep up with this sort of news.
