I have a spare shoe box. :) I've never really understood why Lincoln just didn't let the south go it's way. A split was always a step away, and when Jefferson lost in his attempt to keep new states from being able to have slaves, it was cast in stone that it would come. That was not the only issue, but the northern and southern states were always two worlds and we don't seem to have found a way around it in over two hundred years. California is the food basket, and with the Mid-West, or at least most of it, and wise farming and imports, and those wonderful Canadians? yep. sounds like a plan to me. I sure don't want to live in a theocracy/facist nation, so it's back to the battle or let them go their way. I'm up for it. hmm, I'm in Alabama, though. I'd have to move. :)
