You could keep your Alabama passport and maybe have a dual citizenship. I heard a talking head the other day saying that this country had become too divided and too large to govern effectively....maybe the time has actually come to split it!

The more I think about this, the more interesting it becomes. What would it take? After all, why would right-wing fundamentalist whackos living in the deep South want to keep the latte sipping Eastern elite?

The entire west coast means industry, high tech, internet, media, etc. New York and Chicago has finance, media and industry as well. I'd be happy to import oranges from South America or even consume apple juice from Washington State.

It would be like a divorce. The New USA (and Canada which has some nice scenery) would be the winning side which would soar economically while the Red USA would be the losing side which would fall into economic depression.
