The whole thing is a straw man. If the FDA wanted to, it could inspect, certify and license trade across borders with specific manufacturing facilities deemed to be safe. This works all over europe. They don't want to do it. The bigger question is, why does Bush oppose govt bargaining for lower prices on mass purchases. Could it be because the drug companies contribute so much to his campaigns and those of other key reps? An even better question is, why didn't Kerry hammer Bush about this? Could it be because the dems want some of that drug money too?
