Hey, I am not exactly closed to your view. I remain open to it because I think it is unreasonable to insist there is no chance of dishonor where so much money is concerned. Bush's position on Canadian drugs possibly, perhaps even likely, is being influenced by personal economic interests. However we have no proof of it and we need proof before we can justly call Bush's integrity into question.

On the other hand we already have evidence supporting his concerns re: safety. His concerns are made legitimate by the authorities upon which he, and we, rely on such matters. This is most important at the moment because many lives possibly would be directly threatened were Bush to heedlessly ignore the warning of these authorities.

Perhaps the FDA could do all you say. The point is nevertheless irrelevant here because, according to the FDA the current system is not safe and it is under that system that Americans are receiving Canadian drugs. Time is needed to make the system safe and it is therefore imprudent to make committments on the issue until a sufficient investigation is completed. Appealing to Europe's circumstances would not necessarily give Bush a compelling reason to make committments here either because Europe is quite a bit different from America.

As long as Bush has authorities telling him drugs from Canada are not yet safe, we cannot seriously fault him for not jumping on the "Canadian drugs" bandwagon. That is the point. The president is simply being wise here. If you absolutely must criticize someone on the issue, then criticize the science that supports the judgement upon which Bush's policy is based. This is most reasonable. It is also obvious.
