One, stop the train - really cut immigration from risky countries. That would include the cultural lottery, and more back ground checks. Thsoe who have not yet become citizens, and are very high risk, can be asked to leave. That's going create some heat. Two, develop a list of those whose are the most risky. Double check their citizenship application, and see if they are commiting current violations. This means we need to find out who is related to whom, where they grew up and went to school, where their family memebers grew up, etc. In extensive detail, and collected quietly. Most of the terrorists have gone heavily to recruiting only ' well known' persons to avoid infiltration. So unless there has been some prior contact, the risk is for the terroirsts can be high. For those with some risk, there are several options- 1) Try to approach them and turn them. 2) Monitor them electronically - phones, internet, credit cards, ATM transactions. This can be done electronically and realtively low cost. 3) Monitor them more directly - maybe with a video camera pointed at their front door, with a computer that calls the internet. Running a check on the neighbors will likely locate former lw enforcement, ex-military, or defense industry workers who could provide secure location. This will make it tougher for the terroists - is the person they are approaching going to call the FBI ? I would bet most of this already happening. We also need to help economically & pressure Mexico and Latin America to cut their Mulsim immigration, and watch or deport the risky ones. I think some of this is already happening - it's occuring in Canada, but they are being quiet aboot it. *********** The good news is there are several large Muslim groups in the US with very low risk. Iranians and Turks have little anti-American activity, and many are actively anti-terrorist. There are large Arab group in Michighan who are second and third generation Americans, and not security risks. So the problem is smaller than it seems.
