Because as I grew up in private Catholic schools the priests who taught us, always talked about the 3 great monotheistic religions, one of which was Islam. It never occurred to me how brutal and backward Islam was until I did more reading on it recently. BTW, your figures are close, but here's a website giving some more accurate figures: religioustolerance.org Christian - 2B Islam - 1.2B Judaism - 18M Also, btw, Islam is the fastest growing religion, not because they are successfully converting Christians in droves as Islamic apologists will tell you, rather it is a direct result of the exploding population of Arab countries. Very scary when you think of how they are taught to hate the West in their schools and mosques and have very little access to a real education or jobs.
