Agreed. First and foremost they need to shed their high profile lefties. Daschle was a good start. Clintons, Kennedys and Jackson will be a good followup. We'll see. As you pointed out, right now they are too busy blaming GWB to see their own failures in this election. They have successfully circled the wagons. Unfortunately, they can't seem to locate their ammunition.

Yes, except for one significant social factor I think you under-emphasized: usurpation of the family unit. People turned away from it, relying more on popular culture that shunned it and on government's eagerness to supplant it.
