Because the US doesn't count folks that have been unemployed beyond a certain period of time. It is as if those folks don't exist, even if they do.

If you don't count those who have been unemployed longer than a week, for instance, you can get the "unemployment" rate well below 1.0%

The question is -- what do you want the "unemployment" number to be? Place an order now, and you can pick up the (bogus) numbers tomorrow!

Yesterday, I met a man who lost his job in 2002 and is still looking for a job. Most jobs in his area have been exported to India. Do you think he would be included in the 5.5% unemployment statistic? Of course not!
