There are lots of better qualified conservative jurists than Thomas, who basically follows Scalia's line. Other than a predictable vote, Thomas has contributed very little to the Court. He is no shining leal star.

Bush can and should do better than appoint a mediocrity to the highest legal position in the land.

He could be green or purple, he would still be mediocre.
