Comeon Niceguy- I am long AMD but would have rather seen AMD announce sampling with this announcement.

It rather seems like a desperate attempt to announce "something" that they said that they would.

Why make the announcement now when they will be sampling "early 2005".

There are no data sheets available, nothing. Just fluff.

Maybe this is the next best thing to Opteron, my point is that there is no way to evaluate or judge it. They are not EVEN SAMPLING YET!!!

Ok, I'll grant you this: If they DO pull off the 4X write speed, 1X read speed and no bad sectors (like NAND has), at price and density parity with NAND, they this could be revolutionary and things could get exciting. However, revenus don't come from PR releases.

It really troubles me that they are not yet sampling but are making PR announcements.

You know, thinking more about it, this is something that the "herd" could really get excited about.

"Small 4 Billion $$ company that never could compete with the behemoth Intel is fighting back with a new server processor and now has managed a breakthrough that will allow it to not only address the $8+ billion market of data storage flash, but actually own it!"

Facts and products be damned. When the herd smells a break out story like this, folks on the RIMM board will start saying "Maybe RIMM will do an AMD one day!"

:)
