Yes, the big war for America was actually against the Japanese. However, D-Day was the largest mobilization of American forces since the American Civil war. And we did it to help free Europe.

But many Americans were actually more fearful of the Japanese. They were relentless and fiercely competent in war. There were several naval battles, which could have easily resulted in our defeat. Then after helping the Europeans defeat Hitler, America was exhausted of World War. We wanted out and the Japanese just wouldn't quit. Most believed that we had no choice, but to use the bomb.

BTW, I didn't claim you were Muslim. As far as the comparison of modern Christianity to Islam, check back on many of my recent posts. I address that in several of them.

Your last paragraph sounds like a blueprint which would have had a much higher probability of success. I believe that Bush allowed some neo-con thinking to cloud his judgement when it came to Iraq and that has resulted in the current mess. That is why I voted for Kerry. I believe he might have taken a different approach, one resulting in our departure and energy independence.
