TP, Bush likes the term war on terror because he can label anyone using unconventional tactics as a terrorist and paint them with the same brush as the 9/11 hijackers.

From Jim McMannis:

Message 20610814

War on terrorism = War on Islamic Fundamentalism. Few want to spell it out for what it really is. "Terrorism" is really an undefined term...rarely clarified.

Such a maleable term will always ultimately come to mean a definite group. The only group that fits the bill is Islam

Islam doesn't fit the bill very well. Violent aggressive radical fundamentalist Islamic groups might.
