"Why won't you allow FOX on your TV - if that is true it is unbelievable to me."

Oh they probably will soon but whats been stopping them so far is more to do with irresponsible reporting which has nothing to do with journalistic integrity and is nothing more than a foul mouthed propaganda machine for Rupert Murdoch, an Australian who is simply demented but very rich and powerful.

I listen to KRLA on occasion and they are a FOX channel but I must say they are way too militaristic and hateful for my taste. There are lots of Canadians that want to watch S.S. O'Hannity and Bill the Ripper but more because its like watch wrestling and its good entertainment.

I highly recommend that people see this video and watch it as it is an objective exposé of Murdoch.

You just don't get it do you Bob? No one that I know of is against the US, with the possible exception of one. <g> Bob, we did not create the $.65 dollar, the US did with Bob Rubin's strong dollar policy, something he touted again today. Yes we survived, very well, and I am on record stating this, to you in fact.

We are well aware of the 900lb gorilla, Trudeau referred to it as sleeping next to an elephant, no problem until the elephant rolls over. Yes, a lower US $ will help your exports, but to what degree? You cannot stop exporting jobs to Asia.

Bob, I know about what I speak. I was involved with manufacturing my whole life, the last 25 years quite intimately. Our company had 90% of our production exported to the US. I was involved with seeing Chinese quotes for finished product just slightly above our raw material costs, and we were considered the most efficient in North America at what we did, including the US. Your companies lapped it up, and continue to do so. A 25% reduction in the dollar is probably not enough. Two years ago Chinese wages were about $0.30 per hour. This is from information supplied by a house hold name US customer. I remember having a meeting with our staff and demonstrating that we paid them more to have coffee breaks than the Chinese made in a day.

Your illegals are also not in dispute, but are a direct result of your current policy. Money was spent in Iraq rather than border protection, and recent commentary points to total acceptance of this influx by the administration, contrary to the wishes of some states. Turn off Fox for one evening and watch Lou Dobbs on CNN, he is passionate about this subject.

Fox news is the most partisan network in the US, and that my friend, is saying something. You think our media is inaccurate? Too funny.

That's about the last I have to say Bob. I, and the north, are not against the US, but I dare to say we probably support 48% of your people quite strongly, as do about 75% of the world. I wish you well, I wish the US well, let's leave it at that.

(OT) Bob:

Where to begin...

<There is a huge sense of moral superiority on the part of many Europeans and Canadians.>

I don't think it's moral superiority. It's based on having stated a position and sticking to it. There was a clear belief and statement from huge numbers of Europeans and Canadians that the rationale for the invasion of Iraq was based on false information. Saddam Hussein is an evil man who had committed terrible atrocities against the people of Iraq. But to pretend that there were weapons of mass destruction or that Iraq was a threat to the USA was plainly absurd. The "cut and paste" job of some poor sod's Ph.D. thesis from 10 years earlier was the final straw that broke the camel's back in terms of credibility and efforts to justify an unjustifiable invasion.

Despite that, some of our governments (e.g. the U.K.) went ahead anyway and used this false information to justify their participation in the invasion. Others such as Canada stayed out -- and I have to say that it was the first time in 34 years of living in Canada that I was REALLY proud of being a Canadian Citizen! This was a principled stance -- but it's an unfortunate reflection of our current view of democracy that it could *only* have been made by a prime minister who was on his way out! What a sad state our democracy is in...

<I simply ask you northerners to question the basis of many of your ideas. Is the data you get from your media accurate? Why won't you allow FOX on your TV - if that is true it is unbelievable to me.>

I can see Fox any day of the week. But I much prefer the "less-corporate" networks for finding out what's really going on in the world. The Canadian (CBC) coverage is OK -- but only just. I find I have to follow the BBC and other "infidel" networks -- and of course the Internet -- to really get a feel for what's going on in the world.

I prefaced this post with an OT tag -- but maybe it's not so OT after all? The balance of power in the world is shifting rapidly, not only as a result of US foreign policy but also as a result of a major shift in economic power away from the US and towards Asia and Europe. And this of course will have a major influence on the price of PMs.

So perhaps we're right on topic after all. Right CD? <vbg>

Regards,
Howy
