Mindmeld, My own take on it, though, is that Colin Powell is a highly competent individual, but he has been hamstrung by an administration that doesn't bother with diplomacy.

Probably the best news for you would be Powell staying on while Rumsfeld follows Ashcroft. And I would agree.

I've often wondered about the same thing. My own take on it, though, is that Colin Powell is a highly competent individual, but he has been hamstrung by an administration that doesn't bother with diplomacy.

While he is not a president, a visit by a Secretary of State is something that is highly regarded around the world. He just doesn't do it. Even if he doesn't make a sale, he can still present the sales pitch, and bring people (maybe even an inch) closer to our position.

I think we need someone energetic, someone who likes to travel in that position.
