I disagree. She hates half the electorate.

I think their strongest pick would be Donna Brazile, she's a tough cookie, and smart...

...the new chairman of the Democratic National Committee...

Until the Democrats learn to steer clear of such freak show side issues as "gay marriages" and divisive clowns like Michael Moore, they'll continue to lose in national elections.

<<<This is just a gossip column, but it sounds credible. I hope the DNC DOES go with Ickes, his 527 was largely ineffectual. I think their strongest pick would be Donna Brazile, she's a tough cookie, and smart...>>>

The man who should be doing the picking is XP Clinton. He knows what sells and should be familiar with his 8 years experience looking at Congress.
Having a war going on makes it much tougher for the Party to select a candidate this early. Might need a strong hawk.

But its far to early to tell. Democratic leaders first need to get organized and start thinking positive. All Congressmen should know by now that despite complaints by a few Veterans one should not stain their honor.

Thinking positive would mean you also do not trash the entire Administration -because many Democrats voted for the actions to date.

Instead of just running for office, Democrats have to do some serious thinking about how the US should approach future problems and what the world situation will look like ten years from now.
Accept the fact furthur military investments are needed if we cannot stop the terrorists. An improved missile shield for example.

How many new nuclear Nations will there be and the character of their rulers. How big the Chinese economy will be and will they use so much oil the price rises.
Our oil companies are participating in oil field developments around the globe- stop trashing Halliburton because that will cost us jobs, money, and opportunity.

Find an honorable project that most workers can participate in, equivalent JFK's man-on-the-moon.
The man on the street does not feel he is participating in the war on drugs, or the cancer cures which are done in secret by some Fed agency or big corporation.

This war on terror will do for the time being as we are all part of it. Airline security checks, giving up a bit of privacy, building security devices and contributing to the military efforts.

The most interesting thing to me is the fact that dems are divided on who will be the next DNC chairman.

It's getting to sound like an old cliche, but how do they expect to win elections if they can't even come together on who will run the DNC? One faction of the party wants Ickes, another wants Dean. We'll see which faction is most powerful and who is really running the party when they can finally all come to an agreement.

Despite this infighting, rumor has it that millions of dollars are pouring into the DNC. Whoever it is, he/she will have a large bank account to administer.
