From the Federalist Patriot:

"Since the early exit polls proclaimed Sen. Kerry had won the Presidency on 2 November, prior to the actual election results proclaimed his defeat, I guess that in the future when asked about his campaign for the Presidency, Kerry can say: 'I actually won that election before I lost it'."

It is a difficult topic to even discuss given the amount of code speaking rhetoric on both sides.

I agree that no human being is able to determine when or the precise mechanism for ensoulment. The time line issue is the key to the problem in the court system.

So, in a non-political discussion people might be willing to come to a consensus that it occurs 'sometime' and most likely around or after the first trimester. However, in a political and legal battle we fight at the extreme poles. The unbelievers argue the provability of a soul at all. The believers argue that any living flesh with complete DNA qualifies. So, the timeline starts at zero plus a moment.

The pro-abortionists argue that rape and incest justify the law, even though these are the rare exceptions to your 1.5 million a year statistics. Anti-abortionists argue that life itself is sacred. Sacred in what context? and qualified by what measure? If God had intended this issue to be black and white he wouldn't have created a gray area for discussion. I suspect our souls are being tested within this arena.
