Marine should be chewed out

You are exactly correct. This is the danger of embedded media. That Marine is going to do time in the Portsmouth brig.

There were many people in that group. I saw not a single one indicating a desire to surrender. If what I saw on TV is accurate, that Marine should be chewed out...not for killing one...but for not killing them all.

Doesn't matter. The masses will gleefully be shown it, over and over again, as an execution, a warcrime, an atrocity.

Meanwhile Zarqawi will have beheaded 3 civillian aid workers and copies of his "work" will be sold at the bazaar.

That's ok. Looks like they've learned how to handle it. Ignore the pics, "keep buggering on", take Ramadi in the same quick, brutal fashion.... and the back's been broken.

If they do not. Then we know - they haven't learned.

A Marine called into John Carlson, KVI Seattle tonight. He had received a Bronze Star with a "V" for doing the same thing as the Marine did in Iraq. Two shots to the head. Turns out two Marines had been killed the day before he did that, because the VC was wired.... Also turns out that when he turned the dead VC that he had just shot over, this one too had a wired charge on his chest.

The more I thought about this today, the more upset I got...Our men and women are doing a superb job in Iraq, and most have bent over sideways, at great risk themselves, to not harm civilians. The citizens of Fallujah were told to leave, weeks ago. Many times.

If this was a combatant, and did not put his hands up over his head and keep them there, he was still a combatant.

I would have shot him too.
