Agree with you on the debt issue Ray. Terrible really, but the public can't get excited about it right now it seems...

I'll also agree with you that the debt issue is more important right now than BMD. But, I still think it is necessary, not daft at all. Wouldn't you rather have a chance at shooting down a missile, than only watching the missile as it comes in, and then killing millions in our own retaliation? I think BMD is the more peaceful way to deal with it - and yes, I'm thinking of how it will be in 10-20 years, not yet.

As you know, I never agreed with Iraq, at all. We waste more money each month there than we do for BMD in years. Maybe BMD would be folly, but at least thousands of ours, and tens of thousands of theirs, would not be getting killed...call it an interim jobs program, with a shot a knocking out a missile...a shot - not a guarantee.

So, are you now pessimistic, or optomistic since we will have Bush II? One thought I had is that it may be good to have him in again - to amply horrify everyone as he continues to fail, of course we all suffer also....

Condi in 2008? McCain? How far will the trend here go Ray? How high the debt?

The defense system that will eventually take over is laser based, not missile battery based, and I would be very surprised if it were not extremely reliable.
