<getting something voted on at the annual meeting?>

Spend a lot of money jumping thru the legal hurdles the company and SEC will force you navigate. Darn near impossible to get on the proxy. We tried it one time with a group of about 10 SI investors in Etrade to reign in the Cotsakos abuses. We failed to even get over the first hurdle.

Funny thing though. Eventually they implemented 90% of what we wanted. About 3 years too late.

"What would be the proper procedure to start a stockholder proposal/view point that all future stock options be morphed into a stock dividend /and or cash dividend."

I seem to recall us HPQ shareholders voted to do something similar. CEO Carly Fiorina said "thanks for the advice, shareholder proposals are nonbinding but I'll file your suggestion in Uranus" which hints to what was really done with the proposal...

I think the trick is to condense our points to a couple of talking points and then send them to AMAT and Intel executives we have email addresses for as well as to local newspapers. I worry the newspaper ads could hurt us, especially if we want to consult for any of these companies, but making a list of top dogs inside AMAT we could email too would be a good start.
