Then again I can see that he believes she is a puppet/parrot too. The chatter about his cabinet nomination, particularly in context with other nominations, is that the WH is aiming for loyality and purity of message by putting his closest confidants in those positions. I think it's reasonable to assume that that's Oliphant's main point. Whether we should infer any peripheral points or not, who knows? He obviously doesn't like her one bit Obviously since he could have made his point without being so nasty. I imagine that it was hurtful to her.

He is a liberal. Boston globe writer, friend of kerry for last thirty years, son worked for Kerry on his campaign. What else would you expect from him? He is a sarcastic person , who throws darts, and tries to appear as nice guy, big smile, laugh, and wears his bow tie. He didn't wear one when following Kerry after he came back from Vietnam to protest. Early photo's of Oliphant doesn't show the bow tie. gggg

He thinks she is a big mouthed parrot. I disagree. It is not a big mouthed parrot. Portraying Condi as a Parrot would be an acceptable parody. Condi has average to smaller sized lips and parrots have none. He portrayed her as a big lipped parrot and therein lies the deliberate racial slur.

I wonder what he thought of Madeleine Albright as Secretary of State? Now there is a pair of big lips worthy of caricature. But Madeleine is white, so the subliminal racist slur would not be there. She would just look like a dumb parrot. An insult for sure, but it would have no racial undertones. Nobody would view it as the depiction of a big lipped, dumb, black, parrot head mama pandering to Clinton, the southern white boy.
