the issue for me is why Condelezza Rice can be caricatured like this, and nary a word from our more liberal friends.

It is because most liberals don't consider put downs to be racist. It is just a way of life to them.

Try to remember their current leaders John Kerry and John Edwards ever saying a kind or inspiring word to anyone.
Now try to remember their put downs.

Which stand out most in your memory bank?

Liberals create programs like food stamps, utility assistance, WIC, medicaid and section 8 housing under the guise of helping the downtrodden. Instead of a helping hand to raise the oppressed, they have created a lowly way of life.

Most white liberals won't see that caricature as racist. To them it will be how things are. They will see a black mama who got too far into the white man's world and deserves to be slapped around for it. And slap her around is what Oliphant did.

I wonder with you on, "nary a word from our more liberal friends."
I sure don't expect any liberal white politicians to find it offensive. I would like to see some lily white liberal women object.

Both of my daughters and my wife found it to be an outrageous insult both to Condi's race, her intelligence, and women in general. I guess they are a different breed of woman.
