I am right here in Vancouver.

Previously you told me you were in Oregon or Washington state. What can I say?

I have witnessed first hand the lack of healthcare

I am told you have personal experience with a failure of the system here so I won't argue the point. My experience was different and I had a major traumatic event that went very quickly, efficiently and I was extremely pleased with the action and timeframe. We all have our experiences.

my mother just waited in lines for a week for a chest xray, maybe Monday they say

That is not my or any of my families experience.

another friend is waiting to go to the US for a hip operation

Yes, they are long waits. Fortunately the alternative works. A 75 mile drive, pay your money and you're done. That is what you are advocating anyhow isn't it?

my brother just went to the US for an MRI

I had one in Canada on 3 days notice.

I have witnessed first hand the lack of healthcare and defense in Canada. I think you meant no military? The US is probably too kind on Canada. Canadian politicians would have fiscal responsibility if they had a defense budget. What will the tax rate go to when they are asked to participate in Star Wars or will Canada continue to be a base for terrorist operatives heading for the US?

I expect and hope we won't participate in Star Wars and regarding Canada as a base for terrorists heading to the US two observations come to mind. No.1 The US trained the terrorists in the US re 911. No.2 Canada's defense should be attended to by the US because it is no surprise that any military concerns we have are a result of our affiliation with American Foreign Policy.

<rising economic soundness>-no you must be drunk

Unnecessary and immature.

-high end houses at Whistler are dropping the offer prices ny millions because the high Loonie is keeping foreigners away

Boo Hoo....overpriced gazillion dollar homes aren't holding their ridiculously overinflated prices at the wealthy playground of the world, Whistler. No kidding and who cares.

-pulp mills in BC are shutting down due to the Loonie's rise affecting exports

Pulp mills are and have shut down primaily due to the tariffs imposed by the US on CDN softwood lumber.

-I suppose you think this rise won't affect manufacturing and tourism in Canada?

You are projecting failure in the future, my comments respect present day economical success. Will the US devalue in order to muster any semblance of manufacturing competitiveness. The will, they are.

Are you delusional?

Unnecessary and immature.

Perhaps you are blind to the OECD warnings about Canada's overtaxation.

Call us crazy. We are and will reduce our debt and then taxes have room to drop as need for taxes abates and the end result is sound economy. I don't subscribe to the present US admins formula of spen spend and reduce taxes.

It must be a national trait of Canadians to be quick to criticize the US, and at the same time be overly sensitive to criticisms of their own nation, as if it somehow perfect. Somehow by Canadians being told 'you don't want to be like America do you' they allow them to be overtaxed with paltry services. The Ottawa/provincial relationship is a shambles, Ottawa loots the provinces, leaving services unfunded.
Don't worry, I'm used to these one-sided discussions with Canadians. There are two rules:
1. Open criticism of the US is encouraged
2. Any criticism of Canada is forbidden
If you want to continue your one-sided view of Canada, there is nothing I can do. The closing of Canadians' minds continues to accelerate against the misconception the gov't has something to do with the commodity-driven Loonie appreciation.

Re-read my post. That tirade is a strawman argument. I did not go on a tirade against the US. knock knock ..remember..it was you on a tirade against your own government.

Yep, been here too long.

You will be leaving for the US then? That is cute. I think not.

Just a minor point - I don't think there are many SUCCESSFUL terrorist operations using Canada as a base.

With more pragmatic attitudes, and possibly fewer turf wars between agencies, Canada appears to be on top of this problem.
