Re: Actually, it's amazing when one thinks about the enormity of the undertaking that Zionism has accomplished -- and over many, many years. Indeed, it seems almost ironic that after all their work and suffering to "liberate" the Jews that there are so few Jews left and that the real beneficiaries of Zionism are now the "Christians" -- the followers of Pat Robertson & Co.

Oh, but the French outdid the Zionists: they held sway over Algeria for 132 years (1830-1962) --much longer than Israel's 56 years... Then remember the Crusader states of the Middle ages: following the successful First Crusade in 1089, Christian knights --Catholic, Papist knights, not Protestant-- ruled over the Holy Land for a century... until Saladin recovered it in 1187... The Israeli endeavor might turn out to be just another "transient" like its Christian prequels --nothing to write home about...

Searle, you said, " the New Testament was rewritten in the 19th Century to suit the purposes of the Zionists."

What actually happened was that the interpretation of the prophesies concerning the End Times was changed by Scoefield and the Oxford University. This interpretation placed us squarely as being part of the Tribulation occurring sometime in the future. The Evangelical preachers are always predicting the Second Return of Christ, although prior to these false hermeneutics, the church understood that most to all prophesy was fulfilled in and around 70 AD. I have old Bibles that I actually wrote these predicted returns, which obviously never happened, so the evangelicals seem to have forgotten their original predictions and are setting new dates.

For all this false interpretation, the Israelites must once again return to the Holy Land to usher in the return of Christ. Now as one who was taught this all of my life, I really wanted this to be true, because it was a wonderful story, the Zionists really did make the land flower and grow, and I doubt had it not been for their return we would still see a barren desert. The Lord appears to have blessed them, in the face of overwhelming odds, although it has been their blessing and the rest of the world's curse, imo.
