After re-reading that, it seems to me that I've left an impression that I am a such a doom and gloomer. Thankfully, I'm not. I have lovely family and terrific children and they are being taught to think for themselves. They give me a lot of joy and hope. PS: Its not just Americans. Even though most of my family are American, my Canadian side is not much different than most folks. Blessed with tons of space and tons of resources, Canadians are probably even less clued into what is going on and why -- they just instinctively, as a group anyway, distrust military adventures when there is no clear purpose.
