What do you mean by "not very conservative"? He seems conservative to me. He's not very strident about it. He postures himself to communicate with the "other guys" rather than shout them down or beat them up. That's not a function of how conservative he is but how confrontational or bellicose he is, seems to me. Which ideas do you have in mind as not conservative?

Brooks? We could use a stronger conservative on nytimes.

We are lucky to have any kind of a conservative there. I would love to see them add Steyn when Safire retires in January. But we will be lucky if they add Sullivan.
