A formal announcement could coincide with President Bush (news - web sites)'s visit to Canada next week. "There are conversations around that, but no commitments have been asked for or given," the official said. The official added that Canada is "known for our elections management," pointing to the role the country played in preparing for and monitoring the recent election in Afghanistan (news - web sites). Canada would probably be asked to help in developing the technical infrastructure for the election, including printing ballots, helping with voter registration, designing polling stations and training officials for election day.
