I'm just defending the case for a higher Loonie, not a robust Canadian economy in the face of global depression.

"but the Canadian economy is really hurting under the weight of a fast appreciating Loonie"

This is going on all over the world. There is virtually no hope that the USD will recover LT and this is the price that other nations must pay for helping those gluttons south of the border live high on the hog at everyone else's expense and running up huge deficits. There is nothing that Canada can do with interest rates either. We are between a rock and a hard place. But imports from the states should start being cheaper.
