<"US domestic demand is now primarily supplied domestically"
Demand for what? what items in walmart can be made in US?>

Financial services and Drugs is all I can think of... and the odd software, everything else is imported!! NOTHING is supplied domestically that is really used any more... we could easily see soaring prices AND a depression IMO.

If the US dollar falls, there is enough margin in products where Chinese exporters (and UN importers) make obscene profits for production to shift to the US.

eg. I read a story about a guy in China making lighters for $1 and selling them for $25 in the US.

Instead of WalMart, what about Boeing (the largest US exporter). How cheap are those planes getting now? Will US airlines buy Airbuses or Boeings going forward? That is part of domestic demand.

So, lighters, and bedroom furniture sets and planes consumed in the US will be made in the US again. It will be hailed as the rebirth of American industry. It may take a few years but there will be a lot of people willing to work for lower wages. Bush has already started with the tariffs on some imports which will make American more relatively competitive in the short-term.
