If you want to have an argument about veganism, that would be fine, but the quote thing is just minutia to me...

No argument on veganism from me - we all have our own tastes and preferences. Just don't try taking my Thanksgiving turkey, Christmas ham, "hunting" for NY strips at Kroger, cheeseburgers in paradise (or otherwise), buffalo wings, the chicken marsala my wife likes so much, or the assorted cold cuts from my favorite Italian deli away from me or telling me that I am less moral because I like those things or won't condemn all people who like to hunt.

As for the quote, just thought it might be helpful for you to know that Marcus Aurelius was not really promoting veganism, in spite of the number of vegan websites (and probably books, too) that use that quotation as if he had been doing just that.

Happy b-day to the Mr.

Is refined sugar a vegetable? If so I might be able to become a vegan. The problem is it takes so much longer to prepare meals and also that I hate vegetables. What should I do? <g> What about cheese? And I have to have an omelet now and then. It sure is extra good with canadian bacon diced up in it, and melted cheese. I was going to do it once or twice, really. become a vegan. I bought a cook book "The Enchanted Broccoli Forest" I think. But the prep time is a killer, and it seems you absolutely have to love mushrooms and tomatoes. That will never happen! <g>
