That was an excellent article on the perils the American economy faces, Ionesco. Thanks for sharing it.

This really caught my eye: "The US economy is hooked on consumption and imports, while Asia is hooked on savings and exports."

I was just totally grossed out by all the tv news coverage of the day-after-Thanksgiving sales. Standing in line all night to buy a DVD player? Huge American-type people fighting and bumping at each other to get in the stores? It was insane, and vulgar to watch. I wonder what everyone everywhere watching that must think of us! Oh, wait a minute, I think I already know . . .

I was so repulsed I decided on the spot not to even enter a mall this Christmas season. It would really spoil the holiday for me. Local merchants sell more individualistic, interesting items, and put money back into the local economy more effectively. And you are less likely to get the flu from being in such big crowds, also.
